Consult courtesy of ♪♫: Where in the Bible does is say anything about abusing children?
I would like to know because just about every abuser or enabler likes to throw around the “honor thy father and mother” commandment and I do not like how self serving that is.
There must be something in the Bible about abuse, when it comes to things like pushing or ridiculing and other heavier forms. There must be something? But it is not very popular I can see otherwise I’d surely would have heard about it by now.
“Col 3:21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.”
“Then he said to them, ‘Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For he who is least among you all—he is the greatest.’ -Luke 9:48″
“One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:28-31
“Honor your father and mother” is dedicated to children. If what a parent asks a child to do is contrary to the will of God the child is not supposed to do it.”

Spare The Rod, Spoil the Child
This was a common phrase in the previous century, and still exists today. It refers to the practice of spanking your children in discipline; the phrase “spare the rod, spoil the child” means that if you don’t punish your children when they do wrong, you’ll spoil them. This comes from a Biblical proverb (Prov 13:24): “He who withholds his rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him diligently.”

Evil people will twist anything to get what they want. Though I’ve never liked the story of how the bad guys were going to rape the sons, and the father says no, rape my daughters instead. I think I’ll have to read that one again cos I think I must have missed the point somewhere. Still, that’s why they brought out the New Testament I suppose, to get people’s thinking away from that horrible stuff in the Old Testament.

“He who spareth the rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him correcteth him betimes” (Proverbs 13:24) and “Withhold not correction from a child: for if thou strike him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and deliver his soul from hell.” (Proverbs 23:13-14)
God said to beat the “HELL” out of your kids, and/or slaves, because that’s the only way they will learn.

Deuteronomy 21:18-21 deals with the issue of child abuse in a fair and just manner.
“If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, 19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. 20 They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a drunkard.” 21 Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death.”

How’s killing babies for child abuse?
Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword. Their little children will be dashed to death right before their eyes. Their homes will be sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes. For I will stir up the Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off. The attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows. They will have no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children. (Isaiah 13:15-18 NLT)

The Bible is very much pro abuse.
Incest and corporal punishment up to the point of killing the child for being disrespectful are OK according to that “holy” book of the Christians.
It’s not really a good moral guide (and can get you onto a lot of legal trouble, i.e. jail, if you follow it to the letter)

The bible is a load of poo. You shouldn’t waste your life reading such contradicting lies. Pft.

“Spare the rod, spoil the child.”
There are more than twenty scriptures that speak of beating your children in the Bible.
Prov 13:24: “He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes (diligently).”
Prov 19:18: “Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.”
Prov 22:15: “Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.”
Prov 23:13: “Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.”
Prov 23:14: “Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell (Shoel).”
Prov 29:15: “The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.”

You can justify nearly anything using quotations from the bible:
Deuteronomy 21:18-21 (New International Version)
A Rebellious Son
18 If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, 19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. 20 They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a drunkard.” 21 Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.
Answer by That Damned Heathen
There isn’t. There are a few verses though that claim if your child doesn’t obey you, you can take the child to the elders at the “temple” and have him stoned to death for disobedience. Granted, I haven’t found where anyone actually did do that… but it is in the Bible. And I haven’t seen one yet that states it’s wrong to be abusive to your child. In fact, history shows, they were very hard on their children. They had to be… But their culture is totally different from ours now, which is why you won’t find verses to back you up on this one.

2 Kings 2:23-24
From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. “Go on up, you baldhead!” they said. “Go on up, you baldhead!” He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.
Leviticus 20:9
For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him.
Exodus 21:17
“Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.”
Exodus 34:6-7 [part of one of the three sets of 10 Commandments]
The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation.
Leviticus 26:21-22 (NLT)
“If even then you remain hostile toward me and refuse to obey, I will inflict you with seven more disasters for your sins. I will release wild animals that will kill your children and destroy your cattle, so your numbers will dwindle and your roads will be deserted.”
Deuteronomy 8:5
Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you.
Hosea 9:16 (NLT)
“The people of Israel are struck down. Their roots are dried up, and they will bear no more fruit. And if they give birth, I will slaughter their beloved children.”
Hosea 13:16
… because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open.
Ezekiel 23:46,47 (KJV)
For thus saith the Lord GOD; “I will bring up a company upon them, and will give them to be removed and spoiled. And the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.”
Answer by Paul
Here you go:
Matthew 18:5-6 5 “And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. 6 But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
And again:
Ephesians 6:4 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
This is a good one as it comes immediately after the one you don’t like:
Ephesians 6:2-3 2 “Honour your father and mother”–which is the first commandment with a promise– 3 “that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
You should not use the bible to tell others how to live if you’re not willing to practice it yourself. Don’t use it as a one sided tool to tell others they’re wrong, it is a double edged sword, so if you want to use this scripture to tell your parents to treat you better you had better be prepared to honour them.

And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them. —Mark 10:13-16.
Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For he who is least among you all—he is the greatest.” -Luke 9:48

Every sin can be included in one of the ten commandments:
“The commandments, “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” “Do not covet,” and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” LOVE DOES NO HARM to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” Romans 13:9
If the reason a parent is hurting a child is not love then this is the breaking of the law.
The Great commandment:
“One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:28-31
“Honor your father and mother” is dedicated to children. If what a parent asks a child to do is contrary to the will of God the child is not supposed to do it.
