Problem by Rhiana: How would I become a foster “mother” for animals?
I’ve heard of people becoming surrogates for animals who have lost their mothers but I was wondering how I would be able to do that? What kind of training or schooling would I need?

Well my step sister fostered cats. She just contacted the local humane society. They give you a sick or socially awkward cat, you take care of it for a few months, and then once the humane society thinks it is all better, you give it back and it usually gets adopted right away (: She didn’t have to go through any schooling. They just gave her guidelines.

Generally you do not need training, but most of the shelters or rescue groups like for foster parents to have some experience raising those particular animals.
Fostering works really well as the shelter or rescue group will pay for all of the expenses like food and medical treatment. It also gives you an extended period of time to get to know an animal to see if it fits in your home.
If you do not have any experience with raising animals, get a hold of a rescue group for the type of pet you like i.e. The Golden Retriever Rescue group if that is what you like, and let them know who you are and what you would like to do. They may let you volunteer with them until they feel you are up to the task of parenting an animal…
It is a great way to get experience and to be able to help out animals that need a bit more one on one time to be better off.
