Age when they mate do you manage?

Subject merely by Emyli: Do dogs care about age when they mate?

I’m not trying to breed dogs.

My friend has a 9 year old female Pomeranian, and I have a 2 month old male puppy. She’s spayed, and when the male becomes of age, we plan on getting him fixed as well. We want to bring them together, so she can teach him more dog manners.

Anyways, I heard that males still try to mate even after they’re fixed. I know that my friends dog won’t get pregnant, we just don’t want to see them trying to mate. We want them to be friends and have him look up to her as a “mother” figure.

No, why do you think dogs lick old people, and kids, and hump teenager;s legs.

Answer by Elaine M

When they’re fixed it’s not ‘mating’ since they’re no longer responding to the female in heat.

ALL dogs show dominance by getting up on top and humping. Females included. When they’re fixed they usually do it less, but they still do it.

Dogs don’t care. They have no concept of age. They will recognize a dog that is not sexually mature or is fixed, however. Also it us unlikely the dog will try to mate with an immature, spayed female.

Answer by Emmi

He is never going to see her as a friend or look up to her like a mother. Dogs are not humans. They do not think the same way at all. When dogs are together, they are a pack. That’s it. There are different rankings in the pack, but not mother, father, etc.

None of my dogs have ever tried to mate with another dog, I own 12 (mostly males). If they do, it’s easy to correct. It’s called training your dog.

Dogs do not care about breed, age, size, health, or relationship when they mate. A 16-year-old male will attempt to breed his 6-month-old daughter if she is in heat.

However, dogs ONLY breed for the purpose of procreation so he should only get serious if presented with a dog in heat. Less serious “humping” behavior should simply be corrected as it is rude and unnecessary.

No, dogs do not care at all about age when trying to mate. The female can be 12 and the male can be a momnth for all they care. So, I hope that I helped! want trying together think thing they spayed show reason really mother month mate manage less know getting friend ever dogs daughter child case bring answer Age when they mate do you manage? tigermotherplot blogspot com

No, hey don’t care about age. However, humping is just another unwanted behaviour that can and should be trained out of a dog of any age or gender. Just like barking or digging, humping can be eliminated through training and corrections.

Keep in mind that humping does not always have to do with mating and that not all males hump. Humping can happen to show dominance as well as when a dog just gets overexcited during play. I have two intact males. My older guy has never humped. Ever. My younger guy did constantly and still does on occasion when he gets too excited but it is extremely infrequent and can be easily corrected.

Another thing to prepare for is for the female Pom to hump the pup. Females do it as well. Again, training a dog not to hump is really not much different than teaching a dog not to jump up, dig, bark, etc.

Mother and Child Hand Coloured Ambrotype (Collodion Positive) c. 1860

A lovely 1/6th plate hand coloured ambrotype of a mother and child – c. 1860?

I bought this on eBay a good while back now, along with the wonderful named and dated ambrotype of Edmund Baron Hartley VC. I have no reason though to think that she could be connected to him in any way.

The soft beautiful tones are really striking, and in part this is because unlike many ambrotypes it has been mounted with the collodion facing to the front and instead of a painted black lacquer back it is a piece of dark brown velour type material.

This came with a typical brass matt, cover glass and pinchbeck preserver , but no other outer frame or case, and no markings whatsoever.
