These “birth mothers” are acting like someone held a gun to their heads and stole their babies. In fact, these birth mothers gave their babies away and then want to blame someone else for their irresponsible decisions. Why dont they accept the fact that they were bad moms because hey abandoned their children and now they feel guilty about it. I mean, if they were good, loving mothers they would have kept their babies. If their babies were “stolen” they would have called the police. Why do they whine about adoption being corrupt when it actually saves lives?

I definitely don’t think those woman are bad mothers for placing the child for adoption.

Some people have bad circumstances in which adoption is the best option. I would rather listen to a drug addict mother feel guilty about placing her baby, than be trying to raise he/she themselves or get an abortion. Adoption would be the best decision that mother could make.

Taking a child away from his or her natural mother, is stealing a mother’s child, stealing a child’s mother, stealing a child’s identity, causing problems with access to family medical history (and thus endangering a child), the poor mothers were often lied to, told that it was better for their child and more of that bullshit, and often they were just stolen.

Adoption may save lives, but it does CERTAINLY destroy lives.

I don’t think women who give their child up for adoption are bad mithers. In fact, it might be a sign that they ARE good, loving mothers.

A friend of mine made a stupid decision and got pregnant at 16. She knew she wouldn’t be able to provide for the baby in many ways, so she gave him up for adoption to give him a better life. She wasn’t thinking about how she wanted to go out and party and drink. This wasn’t about her, this was about her child.

What I don’t understand is why some people only care about how the baby is born. If you give your child up for adoption because yiu know you can’t provide for the baby you’re suddenly a horrible mother, but if you keel the baby even though you won’t have the money, time, or maturity, it’s just, ”At least she kept it.”

The Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo is a unique organization of Argentine women who have become human rights activists in order to achieve a common goal. For nearly three decades, the Mothers have fought for the right to re-unite with their abducted children.

In protests, they wear white scarves to symbolize the white dove of peace. The name of the organizations comes from the Plaza de Mayo in central Buenos Aires, where the bereaved mothers and grandmothers first gathered. They gather every Thursday afternoon for a half hour walk around the plaza.

The Mothers’ association was formed by women who had met each other in the course of trying to find their missing sons and daughters, who were abducted by agents of the Argentine government during the years known as the Dirty War (1976–1983), many of whom were then tortured and killed. The 14 founders of the association, Azucena Villaflor de De Vincenti, Berta Braverman, Haydée García Buelas, María Adela Gard de Antokoletz, Julia Gard, María Mercedes Gard and Cándida Gard (4 sisters), Delicia González, Pepa Noia, Mirta Baravalle, Kety Neuhaus, Raquel Arcushin, Sra. De Caimi, started the demonstrations on the Plaza de Mayo, in front of the Casa Rosada presidential palace, on 30 April 1977. Villaflor had been searching for one of her sons and her daughter-in-law for six months. She was taken to the ESMA concentration camp on 10 December 1977.

The military have admitted that over 9,000 of those kidnapped are still unaccounted for, but the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo say that the number is closer to 30,000. The numbers are hard to determine due to the secrecy surrounding the abductions. Three of the founders of the mothers of the Plaza de Mayo have also "disappeared". After the fall of the military regime, a civilian government commission put the number of disappeared at close to 11,000.
