Treatment of acne and how to prevent?

Problem basically by Alia: How do you prevent and treat acne?

I have moderate acne, and I’m a 16 year old girl. People say all different things about how to prevent and get rid of acne, like, “cleanse, tone, and moisturize” or, like my mother, “just soap and water”, or else, “use tea tree oil” or whatever other specific ingredient they believe in. What’s the truth?

Also, how do you get rid of the hyperpigmentation? It seems like after every pimple I have a lasting red mark.

Thanks in advance, I hope I get good answers.

look for treatments with the ingredient: benzoyl peroxide.

don’t use soap with oil in it.

wash your face regularly and do not touch it too much with your hands.

besides that, there is not much you can do.

When I was in my early teens, I had pretty bad acne. I used an older astringent called “Sea Breeze”. Which I absolutely loved. I also did the whole soap and water thing.

My mom gave me advice from her childhood: “Don’t touch your face. The oils from your hands will get all over your skin and cause breakouts.”

I’m in my twenties now and have never had a problem since, with acne. I love my skin. Mostly it’s heredity.

Anyway, the thing that triggers any freak breakouts for me is plain ol’ sugar. Cokes and sugary candy are sure to help the appearance of acne.

So my advice to you is to avoid too much sugar and cut out any soda intake. Make sure you eat plenty of vegetables and fruits (fruits with natural sugars). 8 glasses of water per day also keeps the skin hydrated and clear- it’s true.

Don’t bother investing in expensive creams and treatments. Use a regular astringent. I occasionally use these oil of olay face wipes that wash away makeup and regular dirt. They make my skin feel silky smooth and they smell great.

Remember, you may grow out of this.

Okay, I’ve had acne for quite some time now. I always have difficult skin, and its been frustrating for me. I’ve used Proactiv, and that took about two weeks to get any slight result, and i’ve tried other medicines, but you know what works for me? I use this Neutrogena exfoliating scrub on my face, then i put on the Neutrogena toner before i go to bed every night. It works amazingly! It totally clears my skin up and gets rid of all the dead skin on my face.

haha i bet i sound like I’m on a commercial lol. But i’m serious! Do it.

I tried this PAC Perfect acne complete care kit I heard about somewhere. Cant remember if it was radio or tv, but I checked their website and googled some reviews and it had some really good ones.

I have always had terrible acne, when I was a kid I was put on Accutane. Seemed to work for a year or so, but once I hit college the acne came back. Been battling with it ever since. I’ve tried Proactiv, other stuff from my dermotologist, all to no avail.

This PAC stuff actually worked tho. I get breakouts from time to time still, but much more controlled and minor compared to the old ones.
