Okay, so this all started with a kid wanting me to post something on facebook. So I did. And then out of nowhere he calls me a slut, so I get angry and start to defend myself and some not nice things were said by me. I wasn’t threatening him at all. But apperently his “mother” got on and said that she forwarded everything to the principal at school. Can anything happen?

Well In some cases if the favebook “issues” spill over into the classroom then yes I think you can be punished, but if it doesn’t them I highly doubt tue school can do anything. If they try to have you’re parents set up a meeting with the principal and discuss why you were punished.

To be honest with you I believe that you can’t. If this all happened out of school, pricipals or school should not get involve. Now if the situation gets worse and it gets violent where it is verbal or physical and it happens during school hours then yes you can get in trouble. This all depends if it happens in school or not. One thing I can tell you is that if you did something to offend someone verbally or physically and this dis not happen in school, the mother can be smart enough to press charges on you. So be careful with what you do. good luck and I hope I helped!

They shouldn’t be able to do a damn thing about it. This happened outside of school so this kids mother had no business forwarding anything to the principal. This should have been dealt with a little more maturely. People say shit all the time anyway. What is the school going to do? Tell you to watch your language? I wouldn’t worry about it.

Because she was usually the one behind the camera, I don’t have that many photos of my mother. I have even fewer photographs of the lawn, the palm trees and the view at our beach house above the community of Caraballeda in Venezuela. So this photo is special to me for two reasons.

In those days, the beach house was about an hour or so from our house in Caracas, much of the route on the modern Autopista that replaced the winding and dangerous "old road" from Caracas to the coast. In places, you could see the old road from the Autopista; what impressed me as a little boy were the many carcasses of wrecked vehicles that had fallen off the edge of the old highway and been left to rust on the steep slopes of the range that separates Caracas from the coast.

Now, I understand, travel from the coast to Caracas can be very dangerous, especially at night, and can take hours, all due to the chaos that is descending upon the country.

What I remember about the lawn at the beach house is the constant rustling of the palm leaves in the trade winds; the odor of citrus blossoms and fresh lemons; and the prickly, humid feel of the lawn, which was a tropical variety of crabgrass. I can also remember the rich smell of aloes and other desert vegetation wafting down from the arid hillside in the stillness of early morning, and the soft cooing of the mourning doves.

I processed this photo extensively to get rid of a galaxy of spots and blemishes. Oh, and I Photoshopped Cousin Herb’s knees out of the right side of the photo. I never knew him and, besides, he was more presentable in a suit and tie than in bathing trunks, something that can happen to us all, even yours truly one of these days.

I scanned this image from an original Ansco Color slide, and processed the heck out of it with Aperture and Photoshop CS3. I really have no idea when this was taken, so I arbitrarily dated it 1954.
